‘Holy Radar’ – Off The International Radar vs Holy Fuck
This is the official video I made for the song ‘Holy Radar’, which is a collaboration between Off The International Radar and Holy Fuck. The song appears on the new Hot Lips EP by Off The International Radar on Hand Drawn Dracula records. Holy Fuck took the track ‘E Bowl of Iris’ from OTIR’s first full length LP 003, played it on a turntable at 45 rpm and then proceeded to record overtop of it, building on the ideas and expanding them into something epic. If you get the vinyl Hot Lips release, you can play Holy Radar at 45 to hear the Holy Fuck version, or pitch it down to 33 to hear the OTIR version. One time Brian from Holy Fuck DJ’d a night with us and played E Bowl of Iris at 45, telling us that he loved hearing it at that speed and hatching this nefarious plan for variable vinyl.
This video was made by creating around fifty separate layers in Photoshop, one for each colour overlay per person in the photo. I then imported those files into Resolume and did a live VJ mix over the course of the song to get the body of the final video. Some extra editing was done after the fact to match some beats here and there, but the majority was done live. I shot the intro and ending on the Canon 5D M2.

‘Sans Olo’ – Off The International Radar
Sans Olo from Off the International Radar on Vimeo.
This video was a collaboration between Off The International Radar and Toronto artist Mike Parsons. Henry Sansom, who shot the video, set up a white semi-translucent sheet that Parsons painted on from behind. I then took the raw video and gave it the VJ treatment with Resolume, using different effects to create different sections. I then took those sections and edited them together to form the final video.
